Use Sha Tin for a district-wide result. Choose Tai Wai, Fo Tan or Ma On Shan when local precision is useful. Add Hong Kong to invitations sent abroad. Verify the calendar day when a call crosses midnight.

Locality matters more to journey planning than to clock conversion. Rail interchanges, roads, footbridges and slopes can affect arrival time, even though no time-zone line exists within the district.

How the valley affects sunrise
