The short definition is a named morning for friends on 13 February. A sitcom, Parks and Recreation, put the nickname on television: Leslie Knope throws a breakfast for women friends on the 13th. Households that never watched the show still use the 13th. Households that watched it can skip the 13th. The calendar only supplies the number.

It is not a public holiday. It is not a legal status. It does not replace 14 February unless a group decides it does. Banks keep ordinary 13 February hours, or ordinary Saturday hours when the 13th is a Saturday, as it is in 2027. Schools keep an ordinary timetable unless that date is already a weekend or some other closing.

13 February 2026 was a Friday and is already behind a 3 September 2026 reader. From 3 September 2026 to 13 February 2027 is 163 days: the rest of September, then October through January, then thirteen days of February. The 13th does not slide to Monday to create a long weekend. In 2027 it is already a weekend, which changes brunch logistics and does not change the definition.
