Week 6 starts and sits

How it works

A start/sit decision is a roster move you make before a player’s real game begins. Starters score for you. Benched players, in ordinary formats, do not, even if they have a huge game in the real world. Sit and start week 6, week 6 start and sit, and start sit week 2 are the same instrument on different numbered slates. The number is the fantasy week, aligned with the professional week the league is using, usually American football. It is not ISO week 6, which sits in early February and has nothing to do with an autumn Sunday card.

You cannot start everyone. Slots are limited by position. Two strong running backs and one running-back slot means a sit, not a moral judgment. A sit is also forced on a bye: if that player’s team does not play in week 6, the player cannot score, and leaving them in a starting slot is an empty chair. Check the bye list for that week before you look at matchups. A glowing projection cannot fill a game that is not scheduled.

Week 8 sit start searches are the same checklist later in the season. Week 2 is the same checklist earlier, with a thinner injury file and a different set of byes. Do not copy a week 6 lineup onto week 8. The opponents changed. The byes changed. The people on your bench changed if you used the waiver wire.

A sit is not a verdict on the player. It is a verdict on this week’s slot, this week’s opponent, and whether a game exists.

The weekday grid of a league week

In the common football slate, games sit on Thursday, Sunday, and Monday, with occasional Saturday cards later in the season. That is the weekday map of the start/sit clock: Thursday: the week has already started for anyone whose team plays that night. Their lineup lock is that kickoff, not Sunday morning.

Sunday: most of the slate. Early and late windows are still Sunday. A player in the late window can stay undecided after the early games have begun, if your host locks by game, not by week. Monday: the leftover game or games. A Monday starter is still a week-6 starter, not next week.

Saturday, when it appears: another lock, earlier than Sunday, easy to miss if you only look at the weekend pair. Most hosts lock a player when that player’s game starts, not at a single Friday night whistle for the whole roster. Confirm your host. A league that locks the entire lineup at first kickoff on Thursday will punish a Sunday-only habit. A league that locks per game lets you wait on a Sunday question while your Thursday choice is already running.

Write the decisions before Thursday if you will be away. A “week 6 starts and sits” list you meant to finish on Sunday is already late for the Thursday name. Put that name in or out on a weekday, then use Sunday for the remaining questions, not for the whole roster.

What this page will not do

It will not name who to start. That list dies the moment a practice report lands. It will not invent percentages, snap counts, or weather. Your own roster, that week’s schedule, and the scoring rules of your league are the inputs. Points-per-reception is not the same game as a standard scoring bench. A sit in one league is a start in another if the slot and the scoring disagree.

If you are looking at start sit week 2 because you arrived late to the season, use week 2’s schedule, not a recap from week 6. If you are looking at week 8 sit start because of a bye pile-up, count how many of your starters are actually off that week before you hunt for a replacement. The weekday skill is simple: know which civil days the slate uses, lock the early names on time, and do not treat “the weekend” as the whole football week. Thursday is a weekday, and it already counts.
