Thanksgiving coloring pages

How it works

You print a line drawing, sit down, and colour it. The feast on the page is Thanksgiving, not Christmas. Pumpkins, oak leaves, a cornucopia, a roast bird, and a long table are the usual shapes. Snow, sleighs, and a man in a red suit belong to a later month. If the download is full of holly, you have opened the wrong season.

The United States keeps Thanksgiving on the fourth Thursday in November. In 2026 that date is 26 November. In 2027 it is 25 November. Canada keeps Thanksgiving on the second Monday in October: 12 October in 2026 and 11 October in 2027. A coloring page does not change those rules. It only gives a child something to do in the week of the meal, or in a classroom that is marking the same week.

Paper and tools are ordinary. Copy paper takes crayon and pencil. Marker needs a spare sheet underneath. Thick outlines help small hands. A crowded dinner table with patterned plates helps an older colourist. You finish one page per sitting unless you agreed otherwise before the first stroke.

Harvest pictures, not winter ones

Thanksgiving coloring pages earn the name when the picture is the harvest meal or the autumn field. A turkey is the stock image in the United States. It does not have to look like a recipe. It has to be recognisable as a bird with a fan of tail feathers, or as a roast on a platter. Corn, squash, apples, and wheat sheaves do the same job without a bird at all.

Classroom pages often add a simple “thankful for” banner with a blank line. That is still a coloring page if the child is meant to fill the drawing. It becomes a worksheet if the point is the sentence. Either is fine. Do not call a maths drill a Thanksgiving coloring page because there is a leaf in the corner.

United States: fourth Thursday in November (26 November 2026, 25 November 2027). Canada: second Monday in October (12 October 2026, 11 October 2027). Pictures that fit: turkey, cornucopia, pumpkin, autumn leaves, a shared table.

Pictures that do not fit: Santa, a nativity, a decorated fir, a sleigh. Families who keep both holidays in one autumn — Canadian Thanksgiving in October, then a United States meal in November, or a household that moved — can print two sets. The crayon box does not need a passport. The date on the calendar does. Colour the October pages in October. Keep the November pages for November. Mixing them in a heap is how a child colours a sleigh in the week of the turkey.

Two Thanksgivings, one crayon box

Because the two countries do not share a date, a search for Thanksgiving coloring pages can mean two different weeks. If you are printing for a school in the United States, the sitting belongs to late November. If you are printing for a Canadian school, it belongs to early October. The same turkey outline can serve both. The posting date on the fridge should match the feast you are actually keeping.

Pilgrim hats and buckle shoes are a United States classroom habit, not a Canadian one, and not a requirement of the meal. You can have a Thanksgiving coloring page that is only food and leaves. That choice avoids a history lesson you did not come to the printer for. If a page does include those costumes, treat it as a picture, not as a full account of the past.

A turkey on the page does not have to look edible. It only has to look like a turkey to the person holding the crayon. Print a few pages, not a bundle you will never open. After the meal, leftover pages can wait a year; the holiday returns on the same rule. Store them with autumn craft paper, not with the December box, or you will find a cornucopia while you are hunting for a star. This is a holiday page for the harvest feast. Christmas has its own outlines, and they can wait until the turkey is gone.
