How it works

The service keeps ordinary music channels all year. For the winter holidays it adds a block of Christmas and seasonal stations, some on the car radio, more on the app. You need an active subscription and a radio or app that can see the current lineup. Turning the dial to a holiday number in July often finds a different station, or silence, because many of those slots are seasonal leases.

Two names matter more than the rest. Holiday Traditions plays older, sing-along recordings and is the year-round holiday feed on the app; in season it also occupies a satellite slot. Holly is the contemporary pop holiday station: current seasonal hits mixed with familiar modern standards. Around those sit country, soul, jazz, kids, Latin (Navidad), French (Noël Incontournable), instrumental, and branded channels that the company names in that year’s autumn notice.

Channel numbers move. A number you memorised in the car last December may be a talk station in March and a different holiday feed the next November. Use the on-screen name, not a number written on a napkin. The app guide is the list that matches what you can actually hear today.

When the extra channels appear

SiriusXM announces the seasonal block each autumn. In 2025 the company said the holiday lineup would begin on 4 November and that most of those stations would run through 26 December, with Holly listed on the app into early January. Treat those dates as that year’s published window, not as a law for every future winter. The 2026 window is whatever that year’s notice says. Until that notice exists, plan on “after Halloween, through Boxing Day” as the usual shape, then confirm.

26 December is the day after Christmas. The carols do not wait for 25 December to start, and they do not always stay through New Year’s Day. If you want Christmas music in January, Holiday Traditions on the app is the feed that is built for that habit. If you want the full buffet, you are in the November–December window.

Open the SiriusXM guide on the radio or in the app. Look for the station name, not last year’s number. If you are outside the seasonal window, use Holiday Traditions on the app or wait for the autumn launch.

Read that year’s start and end dates when the company posts them. Hanukkah music, when it is in the seasonal set, is its own station or block, not a substitute for the Christmas feeds. A “Christmas channel” in the search box is the Christian and secular December music. Do not assume every holiday station is a carol station.

App, satellite, and the ride home

Not every holiday station is on every radio. The app usually carries the larger set. Satellite radios in vehicles carry a shorter seasonal list. A passenger with the app can be on Sleep Christmas or a branded Hallmark feed while the dashboard still shows only Holly and Holiday Traditions. That is a packaging difference, not a broken antenna.

Driving between time zones does not change the playlist. The satellite is the same. What changes is whether your receiver has refreshed the lineup after a seasonal switch. If a Christmas channel vanished on 27 December, the season ended. It is not your account. If it vanished in November, rescan or check the app before you assume a hardware fault.

This page is a calendar for the music, not a channel map you can tattoo. Maps go stale. The season does not: winter in the north is still the season when the extra Christmas channels are meant to be on.
