October calendar
An October calendar is a 31-day grid for that month in a chosen year. October always has 31 days. The 2026 October calendar begins on Thursday 1 October and ends on Saturday 31 October.
How it works
The October page is the same kind of week grid as any other month: seven weekday columns and enough rows to hold 31 dates. Leading blanks are September dates if the printer shows them; trailing blanks are November. They are not extra October days. October cannot be 30 days. It is one of the 31-day months.
The year decides the weekday of the 1st. Once that column is known, every later October date is fixed. Halloween is always 31 October; only the weekday of that date moves. School terms, pay cycles, and travel around the month need that weekday, not only the number 31.
A Sunday-first grid and a Monday-first grid contain the same dates. They disagree only about which side of the page a week starts on. When you share a screenshot, say which convention the image uses so Saturday and Sunday are not swapped by accident.
October 2026 calendar
1 October 2026 is a Thursday. 31 October 2026 is a Saturday. The Mondays of the month are 5, 12, 19, and 26 October. The second Monday is 12 October, which is the date used in the United States for the federal holiday that falls on that rule in October.
Because the month starts on Thursday, a Sunday-first calendar shows the 1st in the middle of the first row, with 2 and 3 October as Friday and Saturday, then 4 October as the first Sunday. The last row holds 25 through 31, so Halloween sits at the end of that Saturday cell, not in a leftover November strip.
1 October 2026: Thursday. 12 October 2026: Monday (second Monday of the month). 31 October 2026: Saturday. Day count: 31. September 2026 ends on Wednesday 30 September, so Thursday 1 October follows immediately. November 2026 then begins on Sunday 1 November, the morning after Saturday Halloween. If you are booking a weekend that claims to include Halloween 2026, that weekend is Friday 30 October through Sunday 1 November, with the 31st in the middle as Saturday. October keeps 31 days so the 31st can stay Halloween even when that date is a Saturday.
Using the 31 days
A 31-day month has four full weeks plus three extra dates. In 2026 those extra dates at the front are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday the 1st through the 3rd, and the month still has a full Saturday on the 31st. Counting “four weeks in October” as if that were 28 days leaves three dates unaccounted for.
Write the year on the October page before you copy any weekday. Mark 1 October and 31 October, then fill the days between. Place any “nth weekday” rule after the grid exists, not before. If a plan crosses into November, keep 1 November on the next page, not as a 32nd October date.
For a printed 2026 planner, check that 31 October is Saturday and that the following page opens on Sunday. If those two facts disagree, the file is for another year or the week-start setting has been applied to the dates instead of to the columns.
