National Public Gardens Day is a different square: the Friday before Mother’s Day, set by the American Public Gardens Association from 2009. Mother’s Day is the second Sunday in May, so that Friday moves. It is a day for botanic gardens, arboreta, and other public grounds, not for renaming your balcony. Do not use 14 April as the public-garden Friday. Do not use the Friday as 14 April. Both are unofficial. Both leave the mail running.
