Holiday deals

Holiday deals are time-limited prices tied to a named day or a shopping season. The discount is the seller’s offer, not the calendar. Read that shop’s terms for the date you will pay.

what national day is it today

What national day is it today depends which list you opened. Official public holidays are a short legal roster: in the United States, days such as Independence Day or Thanksgiving. Unofficial “national days” — National Sandwich Day, National Cheeseburger Day, Pi Day — are labels used by calendars, restaurants, and marketers. Several unofficial names can share one date. None of them, by themselves, forces a till to cut a price.

To answer the question for this morning, take today’s civil date where you are and look it up on the kind of list you mean: public holiday, bank holiday, or novelty food day. 3 September 2026 is a Thursday. It is not a U.S. federal holiday. Labor Day 2026 is Monday 7 September. If you wanted a food “national day,” you still have to name the list. Do not treat a social-media graphic as a statute.

Food days that shops actually use

Pi Day is 14 March, from the month-day writing of 3/14, matching the first digits of pi. Pi Day deals, when they exist, are usually pies, pizza, or a 3.14-themed price, posted by a specific bakery or chain for that date. They are not automatic. National Sandwich Day is widely listed on 3 November. Sandwich deals for National Sandwich Day are whatever a deli or chain publishes for that 3 November. National Cheeseburger Day is widely listed on 18 September. National Cheeseburger Day deals are the burger offers a restaurant puts on that date, if it puts any on at all.

Pi Day: 14 March. Offers, if any, come from the baker or chain, not from the number π. National Sandwich Day: commonly 3 November. Ask the shop you will actually visit. National Cheeseburger Day: commonly 18 September. Same rule: the kitchen’s notice, not a meme.

Christmas and Thanksgiving: seasonal retail, not a single food-day sticker. Holiday deals around December are a different pile: storewide sales, gift bundles, hours that change on the 24th and 25th. A “holiday deal” banner in November may already be a Christmas campaign. A “holiday deal” in March may be Pi Day. The word “holiday” is doing too much work until you name the date.

How to use a deal without guessing

Open the restaurant or retailer’s own page or app for the day you will buy. Note whether you must order in store, online, or with a code. Note whether the price includes the thing you actually want — the cheeseburger, the sandwich, the pie — or a smaller item used as bait. Note the end time. A national-day deal that ends at 2 p.m. is a lunch offer. Arriving at dinner with a screenshot from breakfast is not a coupon.

A national day can name the sandwich. Only the shop can name the price. If two chains run National Sandwich Day deals on the same 3 November, they are still two offers. You cannot mix a drink from one with a discount from the other. If no kitchen near you posted anything, the day is still on the calendar; you can make the sandwich at home and skip the hunt. The same is true of Pi Day and National Cheeseburger Day. The named day is an excuse. The receipt is the fact.

Questions and answers

What national day is it today, 3 September 2026?
It is a Thursday, not a U.S. federal holiday. Unofficial “national day” lists may attach other names to the date; those names do not, by themselves, create a discount.
When are Pi Day deals?
On 14 March, and only where a seller posted one. Check that seller. Pi Day is the date, not a nationwide price law.
Are National Sandwich Day deals and National Cheeseburger Day deals official?
No. 3 November and 18 September are widely used unofficial food days. Deals are individual restaurant or shop offers for those dates.
