Falling for Christmas is a 2022 Netflix Christmas romantic comedy starring Lindsay Lohan as a hotel heiress who loses her memory after a skiing accident. It is a film, not a calendar date.

The plot is a December story, not a public holiday. Sierra Belmont, newly named “vice president of atmosphere” at her father Beauregard’s luxury ski resort, goes up a mountain with her influencer boyfriend Tad Fairchild for a shoot. He proposes. Wind and skis send her off the slope. She hits her head, loses her memory, and is taken in at the struggling North Star Lodge by widower Jake Russell and his daughter Avy until someone claims her. She works at the lodge, helps throw a fundraiser, remembers who she is when her father and Tad arrive, and by Christmas Day has to choose which life she wants. Chord Overstreet plays Jake. George Young plays Tad. Jack Wagner plays Beauregard. Olivia Perez plays Avy.
Netflix released the film on 10 November 2022, after a fan screening at the Paris Theater in Manhattan on 9 November. It is a streaming premiere, not a wide theatrical Christmas Day opening. Watching it in 2026 does not move 25 December. It is one way to spend an evening in the season.
How it sits in a December evening
Put it on when you want a lodge, snow, a makeover of habits, and a lead who has to relearn ordinary chores. It borrows the shape of the 1987 film Overboard — a privileged woman, a memory wipe, a working household — and plants that shape in tinsel. It is closer to a television Christmas movie than to a church service. If you wanted a nativity play, this is the wrong file. If you wanted Lohan in a holiday rom-com, this is the file that brought her back to a lead after a long gap.
Confirm you mean the 2022 Netflix picture, not the 2016 TV movie also listed in some places as Falling for Christmas (original title Snowcapped Christmas). Check that the title is still on the service you use; catalogues move.
Budget about an hour and a half, plus the credits if you like blooper reels. Do not treat the ski accident as a travel guide. It is a plot device. Lohan recorded a cover of “Jingle Bell Rock” for the project, a nod to her scene with that song in Mean Girls (2004). Chord Overstreet performs “Everybody Loves Christmas.” Aliana Lohan, who appears as the stylist Bianca, sings on the soundtrack as well. Nathan Lanier wrote the score. The soundtrack album followed the film. You can listen without watching. Watching without the extra album is the usual sitting.
What it is not
It is not Hallmark Channel’s catalogue, even when the lodge, the single father, and the town fundraiser look related. It is a Netflix original from Motion Picture Corporation of America and Riviera Films. It is not the 2016 Snowcapped Christmas picture with Leah Renee. It is not a documentary about Aspen. Interiors for the lodge were filmed at the Stein Eriksen Lodge in Park City, Utah, with other work in Park City and Salt Lake City. The place names on screen are story names.
Reviews were mixed. That is a fact about reception, not a score you are required to share. If the film is missing from your Netflix menu in a later year, the holiday still arrives. Another title will fill the evening, or none will, and the tree will still be a tree.
Amnesia is a plot device. 25 December is not. A sequel has been talked about by the filmmakers in interviews; talk is not a release. Until a later title exists on a service, Falling for Christmas is this one 2022 file. Queue it in November if you like starting early, or on Christmas Eve if you like the joke of watching someone else lose Christmas and find it again while yours is already in the kitchen.
