How it works

Circle K is a convenience-store chain. Fuel Day is a branded discount window at participating stations that sell fuel. The chain publishes a date, a local-time span, a discount rule, and a list of conditions. Until that notice exists for a given week, there is no Fuel Day to mark on a blank month. A neighbour’s memory of last spring is not this week’s price.

Recent U.S. events have often used a short evening window for all customers at participating pumps, with members of the Inner Circle loyalty program getting an earlier span the same day. Hours have not been identical from event to event. A January 2026 Inner Circle Fuel Day ran as a full local day for members. A 7 May 2026 Fuel Day advertised a late-afternoon window for the general public and an earlier member window. Copying one of those clocks onto a future Thursday is how people arrive after the pumps have gone back to the listed price.

The discount is whatever that notice says, in the unit that notice uses, at locations that notice includes. Franchise sites, company-operated sites, and whole states can be in or out. Some U.S. states cap how a fuel discount may be written, so the same event can read differently in Wisconsin than in a neighbouring state. Canada has run separate Fuel Days in cents per litre on their own dates. Do not import a U.S. Thursday onto a Canadian litre, or a Canadian afternoon onto a U.S. gallon.

A promotion, not a red-letter day

Fuel Day does not close schools. It does not close banks. It does not change the civil weekday. Thursday remains Thursday. If you do not need fuel, you do not need the event. If you do need fuel, you still need a participating store, the right clock, and any membership step the notice names. Entering a phone number at the pump is a loyalty step when the notice requires it. It is not a national ID.

People: some windows are members-only; some are for anyone at the pump. Charity line: when the notice names a donation from Fuel Day sales, that is part of that event, not a standing tax. From 3 September 2026 the 7 May 2026 U.S. event is already over. The next Fuel Day is the next one the chain posts. This page cannot freeze a moving promo sheet. If a search sent you here in a week with no notice, the honest answer is that there is no Fuel Day this week.

Fuel Day is a sale with a stopwatch. Arrive after the window and you have bought ordinary petrol with ceremonial feelings.

How to read the next notice

Read the date first, then the hours, then who qualifies, then which fuels, then which stores. Diesel is not assumed. A fill-up limit is not assumed. “Up to” in a discount line is a cap, not a guarantee that every grade drops by the top figure. The price on the pump during the window is the price that counts if the notice says the discount is built in. A separate app code is needed only if the notice says so.

Loyalty signup, when required, has to be finished before you authorise the pump, not while the nozzle is already in the tank. A screenshot from another state can be legal in that state and wrong in yours. A Canadian litre poster is the wrong unit in a U.S. gallon state.

If two Circle K stations on the same road disagree, believe the pump and the printed conditions, not the friendlier rumour. If you needed a public holiday, you are in the wrong aisle. If you needed cheap fuel, wait for the next posted window or buy fuel when you need it at the ordinary price. Running the tank empty on a Sunday because a Thursday might be coming is a planning error, not a tradition.
