One household usually stands one tree. A street may stand many: a tree in each window, a large one in a square, a row along a lot where cut trees are sold. Christmas uses trees as a sign, not as the whole of the day. Gifts, meals, services, and closed offices on 25 December in the United States can happen with or without a tree in the corner. A house without a tree is still allowed to keep the date. A house with three tiny trees on a shelf has not kept the date three times.

Saying the word twice does not double the forest. It is one wish with an echo, and one stand is enough for most rooms. If the doubled search was a child mashing a keyboard, show them one tree, then perhaps a second drawing. If it was an adult looking for lots, point them at the difference between a selling row and a dressed tree already in a room. Both are Christmas trees. Only the dressed one has finished the job.
