How it works

Paul Thomas Anderson wrote and directed One Battle After Another, released in the United States on 26 September 2025. The picture is an R-rated action crime drama, inspired by Thomas Pynchon’s novel Vineland. Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, and Chase Infiniti are among the leads. Inside that story, the Christmas Adventurers Club is a wealthy, racist cabal. Members greet one another with Christmas kitsch, including the line “Hail St. Nick.” The name is camouflage. The club is a plot device, not a calendar event.

People search the phrase in December because the first two words sound like a choir outing or a charity. They are not. There is no membership form, no public lodge, and no date on which the club “meets” in the real world. If a listing invites you to join a Christmas Adventurers Club as a social hour, that is someone else borrowing the joke. It is not the organisation in the film, because that organisation is invented.

The film opened in late September, in northern meteorological autumn, not on 25 December. You do not need a tree in the room to follow the plot. You do need to know that the Christmas language is satire aimed at people who wrap harm in a homely brand.

Christmas words, not a Christmas date

St. Nick is a familiar winter figure. Using him as a password does not make the speakers kindly. In the story, the club’s tableware, greetings, and name borrow the warmth of the season so the group can look ordinary while it is not. That is why the search lands on a holiday page: the brand is seasonal; the movie is not a nativity, a cookie swap, or a light festival.

One Battle After Another is a long film. Published runtimes sit around two hours and forty minutes. It is not a substitute for a Christmas comedy and it is not a children’s picture. If you wanted 8-Bit Christmas or a Hallmark reunion, this is the wrong title. If you wanted to know whether a “Christmas Adventurers Club” is a thing you can attend on 25 December, the answer is no.

Match the phrase to the 2025 Anderson film, not to a parish group. Treat “Hail St. Nick” as dialogue in that story, not as a greeting for your table. Do not plan a December outing around a club that exists only on screen.

If you watch the film, read the rating first. It is not holiday comfort viewing. A club that says Christmas in the title is still a club. In this case it is also imaginary, which is the kindest fact on the page.

What not to confuse it with

It is not the Advent calendar, which counts the days in December before Christmas. It is not Advent itself, the church season. It is not a travel club for people who take trips in late December. “Adventurers” here is a proper name inside a script. “Christmas” here is costume.

It is also not a guide to real-world groups, political or otherwise. The page names a fictional organisation so you can stop looking for a street address. For a countdown to 25 December, use a calendar. For a Christmas film, pick a title that is actually about the feast. This one only stole the wreath for a sign on the door.
