Today is China National Day only if the civil date is 1 October. On Thursday 3 September 2026 the answer is no. Count forward to Thursday 1 October 2026. In 2027 the same anniversary is Friday 1 October. Queries written as national day china, national china day, and national day in china are the same date in different word orders. They are not Spring Festival, not Mid-Autumn, and not a U.S. federal Monday.

The day marks 1 October 1949, when the People’s Republic of China was proclaimed in Beijing. The anniversary is fixed to that month and day. It does not float to the nearest Friday. It does not wait for a full moon. A flag-raising and official ceremonies sit on the 1st even when the surrounding leave block is longer.

Later years need that year’s notice. Do not copy 2026’s makeup Sundays onto 2027 by habit.

Anniversary every year: 1 October. 2026: Thursday 1 October; leave block through 7 October as published for that year. 2027: Friday 1 October; observed days on 4 and 5 October already on the public list.

Not Spring Festival (17 February 2026 / 6 February 2027). Not Mid-Autumn (25 September 2026). Golden Week is a work roster built around 1 October. The roster can stretch. The birthday of the state does not move to Monday to make the trains easier.

What the day is not

It is not the Year of the Horse changing. The animal year in 2026 is already Horse from 17 February, and it stays Horse past 1 October until 6 February 2027. National Day is autumn civil ink. It is not a second new year.

It is not Taiwan’s National Day on 10 October, the Republic of China date often called Double Ten. Those two October flags are two states’ calendars. Sharing the English words “national day” does not put them on one square. It is also not 1 January, which China keeps as New Year’s Day on the Gregorian clock, a separate public date in winter.
