How it works

Wally Bronner began a sign-painting business in 1945. Christmas decorating work grew out of that trade. The family consolidated the shops at the present Christmas Lane site in 1977. The store styles its name with CHRIST in capitals and calls itself the World’s Largest Christmas Store, a trade claim on the door. It sells ornaments, trees, lights, Nativity scenes, and other seasonal goods through the year, not only in December. A Silent Night Memorial Chapel on the grounds is open for visits during store hours and is not offered for ceremonies.

The holiday-page fact is the split between the shop’s year-round Christmas and the civic 25 December. You can walk a Christmas aisle in July. You cannot walk it on Christmas Day: the store lists Christmas as closed. Thanksgiving Day is closed. New Year’s Day is closed. Easter is closed. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve close at 4 p.m. Good Friday is listed closed from noon to 3 p.m. Those are the named locks on bronners.com/store-hours. The Lane is not a substitute calendar for the feast.

The shop says it is open 361 days a year. That slogan is the year minus the closed dates it publishes. It is not a dare to arrive without checking the board in front of you, and it is not a claim that every hour of those 361 days looks like December Saturday night.

Seasonal boards, not one winter clock

Hours change with the season. For July through September the store posts Monday–Thursday 9 a.m.–7 p.m., Friday 9 a.m.–8 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.–9 p.m., and Sunday noon–5:30 p.m. October through December keeps the same weekday pattern and stretches Sunday to 6 p.m. January through May shortens to 9 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Monday–Saturday, Sunday noon–5:30 p.m. June sits between those boards, with Friday and Saturday until 7 p.m. From Thursday 3 September 2026 you are still on the July–September board until October begins.

Hours live on the store’s own hours page and can change; read it again the week you travel. Personalization desks and paint counters keep shorter clocks than the sales floor. Penned ornaments may be available in ordinary store hours; painted orders have their own weekday windows. Do not treat the front door’s close as the personalization desk’s close. Santa visits, when they run in late November and December, are a separate booth with their own notice. Christmas Eve Santa hours, when posted, end earlier than the store’s already early close.

Christmas Lane is not the 25th

Frankenmuth markets itself as a Bavarian-themed town. The Lane is a tourist street with a Christmas name. Sleeping in town in July still gets you a Christmas shop, on July hours. Sleeping in town on 25 December gets you a locked door and a civic feast. If you are building a holiday trip around the store, travel on an open date in the season whose board you can live with, not on the feast the store observes by closing.

Christmas lives on the Lane most of the year. The 25th is still the day they turn the key. Service animals are welcome under the store’s posted rule; pets and emotional-support animals are not allowed because of the snack area. Strollers and wheelchairs are available; the hours page says there are no electric scooters to rent. Those are house rules, not holiday theology. Bring the coat Michigan’s month actually requires. A July visit is not a December visit. Only the date on the ticket and the board on the site can tell you which hours you will get.
