60 days prior to today
Sixty days prior to today is today’s date minus 60 calendar days. From Thursday 3 September 2026 that past date is Sunday 5 July 2026.
what is ninety days from today
Ninety days from today is the opposite arrow: today plus 90 calendar days. From Thursday 3 September 2026 that future date is Wednesday 2 December 2026. Prior is minus. From today is plus. The two stamps are not a pair of “three months” in different directions. July 5 and December 2 are what the day-counts actually hit from that Thursday.
Sixty days is 8 weeks and 4 leftover days. Ninety days is 12 weeks and 6 leftover days. The leftovers are why you should not hop a whole number of weeks and stop. From a Thursday, 60 days land on a Sunday (four weekdays later in the leftover). Ninety days land on a Wednesday (six weekdays later).
Three months before 3 September is 3 June. Sixty days before 3 September is 5 July. Three months after 3 September is 3 December. Ninety days after is 2 December. Month arithmetic and day arithmetic disagree on both sides of today. If the instruction said days, do not use months.
How to walk sixty days backward
Write today’s civil date, including the year. Subtract 60, rolling through the real lengths of the months you cross. Name the weekday of the result. If a form treats today as day 1 of the 60, say so; that lands you one day closer to today than a pure “60 days ago” elapsed count.
From 3 September, August has 31 days, so 3 September minus 3 days is 31 August, minus 31 more is 31 July, and 26 more days back from 31 July is 5 July. The long month is why people who “go back two months” to 3 July miss the real stamp by two days in this example.
Inclusive lists are longer. The 60 dates ending today, if today counts, started 59 elapsed days ago, not 60. “60 days prior” in ordinary English is the elapsed walk: 5 July 2026 from 3 September 2026, with 3 September left out of the 60.
Prior is a direction. If your result is still in the future, you added. Sixty days prior does not need a plus sign.
Tomorrow the stamp moves
On 4 September 2026, sixty days prior is 6 July 2026, and ninety days from that Friday is 3 December 2026. Frozen examples on this page are for 3 September 2026. The method does not freeze. Recompute when the morning changes.
Time of day does not change the date if you asked for days. 60 days prior to this afternoon is still 5 July 2026 from 3 September, not 4 July with a leftover hour. Hours belong to a 1,440-hour count (60 × 24), which is a different question.
