Jamestown is Saint Helena's capital, wedged into a steep valley running down to the sea. Its clock reads UTC+0 — the same as London in winter, and an hour behind London when the UK moves to British Summer Time.

That is a curiosity worth noting: a British Overseas Territory that is *not* on the same time as Britain for roughly seven months of the year, purely because it declines to follow the seasonal change.

A remote island on the zero meridian's hour

Saint Helena sits in the South Atlantic, one of the most isolated inhabited places on Earth. The territory also includes Ascension Island and Tristan da Cunha, and its time arrangements reflect its geography more than its administration.

Daylight through the year

Being in the southern hemisphere, Saint Helena's seasons run opposite to Britain's: December is summer, June is winter. But at 16 degrees south the difference between the longest and shortest day is small, so there is no seasonal darkness problem for daylight saving to solve — which is a large part of why none has ever been adopted.
