What time is it in Lahore
Lahore keeps Pakistan Standard Time, UTC+5, year-round. The IANA zone is Asia/Karachi. There is no daylight saving. Sun and weather on this page use that hour. Lahore is the capital of Punjab, inland on the Ravi, near the Indian border. It does not keep a different zone from Karachi or Islamabad. A train to the south, a flight to the coast, and a call to the capital all stay on the same Pakistani hour.
India Standard Time is half an hour ahead. A Lahore clock at noon is 12:30 in Mumbai. People forget that half hour because the two countries look adjacent on a map. Write both times when the meeting crosses the border.
An inland capital on a national clock
Pakistan is a long country from the Arabian Sea to the high north, and it still uses one civil offset. Lahore’s longitude is east of Karachi’s, so the sun comes up earlier here on the same wall clock. That is astronomy, not a second zone. Do not invent a “Punjab time.”
The IANA name Asia/Karachi is the zone for the whole country in ordinary civil use, including this city. Calendars, phones, and airline systems should pick that identifier. A label that only says “PKT” is readable for people; a program needs the IANA name.
Lahore to UTC: subtract five hours. Lahore to China Standard Time: add three hours. Lahore to India Standard Time: add thirty minutes. Lahore to Mexico City: subtract eleven hours and check the date. When you publish an event, put the city in the line: “Tuesday 10:00, Lahore.” “Tuesday 10:00 PKT” is weaker, and “Tuesday 10:00 CST” is a trap, because CST is not this zone at all. Punjab heat arrives on Pakistan Standard Time. The clock does not take a summer holiday.
Heat, monsoon, and winter light
Inland Punjab has a hard seasonal swing. Late spring and early summer are very hot and dry before the monsoon. When the monsoon reaches the plain, humidity rises, skies break into heavy rain, and the light goes flat. Winters are cooler and much drier, with clearer mornings and a sun that sits lower in the south.
Lahore is far enough north for winter days to shorten in a way Karachi barely feels. Use the sunrise and sunset for this city, not a coastal average. A December dawn here is not a December dawn on the Arabian Sea, even though both clocks show UTC+5.
Weather also changes what you can do with those hours. A pre-monsoon afternoon can make outdoor work unwise long before sunset. A winter morning can be the best window of the day. The forecast on this page is the check; the zone offset is not a climate summary.
If you are flying in, convert the landing time to Lahore and then read the season. A midnight arrival in July is still a hot city. A midnight arrival in January is a different coat. The airport clock will not warn you. The weather panel will.
