Most of Kansas uses Central Time, while a small group of counties along the western border uses Mountain Time. Always check the specific destination when travel or a deadline involves far western Kansas.

Wichita, Overland Park, Kansas City, Olathe, Topeka, Lawrence, and most Kansas communities follow Central Time. Mountain Time applies in four western counties: Sherman, Wallace, Greeley, and Hamilton.

Both parts of Kansas observe daylight saving time. The seasonal clock changes occur in each zone, so the Mountain Time counties remain one hour behind the Central Time portion. Kansas is mostly Central, with a western footnote large enough to miss a meeting.
