Rize Province, Turkey
Rize Province keeps Turkey Time, fixed at UTC+3 year-round. Its eastern Black Sea position supports relatively early solar times, but cloud, steep valleys and mountain horizons strongly affect the sunrise people actually see.

Current time in Rize Province, Turkey
Rize Province follows Turkey Time, or TRT, which is three hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time. Turkey maintains this offset in every season. Consequently, Rize has no spring advance or autumn reversal of its clocks.
Rize city, Çayeli, Ardeşen, Pazar, Fındıklı, Güneysu, İkizdere and Çamlıhemşin all use the same hour. Travelling from the coast into the Kaçkar Mountains does not involve entering another time zone. Other countries may change their civil time seasonally, so an international difference can vary even while Rize remains fixed. Recheck the conversion when arranging a meeting months in advance.
In Rize, the clouds sometimes conceal sunrise with impressive thoroughness; the Sun and the clock continue anyway.
Rize city and the eastern coastal centres
Rize city is the provincial capital and the main administrative centre on the Black Sea coast. Çayeli lies to the east and is one of the province’s prominent district centres. Farther along the coast, Pazar and Ardeşen serve surrounding towns and valleys.
Fındıklı stands near the province’s eastern edge. Inland districts include Güneysu, İkizdere and Çamlıhemşin, each connected with steep valleys and mountainous landscapes. Settlement patterns often follow the narrow coast or river valleys leading inland.
Rize city is the provincial seat and principal coastal centre. Çayeli is an important town east of the capital. Pazar and Ardeşen are notable eastern coastal centres. Fındıklı serves the far eastern coastal area.
İkizdere and Çamlıhemşin provide gateways to high mountain districts. All share one official time, yet travel estimates deserve care. Short map distances can involve winding valley roads and substantial changes in elevation.
Sunrise on a steep Black Sea coast
Sunrise shifts through the calendar as the duration of daylight changes. Rize experiences earlier dawns during the longer-day season and later dawns during the shorter-day season, with no clock change to mask that natural movement.
The province lies in northeastern Turkey, so its solar events generally occur earlier by the national clock than those of far-western provinces. A coastal observer may have a broad view in one direction, while a person only a short distance inland can face a high ridge above the valley.
Use a calculation for the actual town or coordinates when timing a hike, photograph or departure. Astronomical sunrise does not promise visible sunshine: mountains may block the horizon, and dense cloud may hide the solar disc. Civil twilight is the better measure when the concern is the general arrival of outdoor light.
