Niğde city and its district centres

Ulukışla lies farther south near important routes through the Taurus Mountains. Çamardı occupies a mountainous area to the east, associated with the high terrain of the Aladağlar. Altunhisar and Çiftlik are district centres serving western and northern parts of the province.

Niğde city is the administrative and service centre. Bor is a substantial town immediately south of the capital area. Ulukışla is an important southern district centre. Çamardı serves communities near dramatic mountain terrain.

Altunhisar and Çiftlik provide local district services. Official time remains uniform from the central plateau to mountain settlements. Travellers should still allow for elevation, road layout and weather when estimating a journey, particularly when an appointment depends on arriving before dawn.
