Current time in Southern Darfur, Sudan
The current state time applies equally in Nyala and in settlements elsewhere in Southern Darfur. Long distances and different local landscapes do not create additional official time zones inside the region.
To convert UTC into Southern Darfur time, add two hours. A call scheduled for 08:00 UTC begins at 10:00 locally. Converting a local time back to UTC requires subtracting two hours and checking whether that moves the calendar date backward.
The state normally remains on this offset throughout the year. When an international time difference appears to shift, the cause may be a daylight saving change in the other location rather than any change in Sudan.
A journey across Southern Darfur may test the timetable, but at least it will not test a second time zone.
Nyala and other local centres
Nyala is the capital and principal city reference for Southern Darfur. Kass, Buram, and Tulus are useful geographic points for more local daylight information. Their clocks agree because Sudan applies CAT across the country.
When arranging appointments, travel, or remote work: Treat every city in Southern Darfur as UTC+2. Label international times with CAT or the numeric offset. Use 16:00 instead of an ambiguous 4 o’clock.
Write the date when participants may be on different calendar days. Verify the current offset at the other end of an international call. Automatic device settings usually handle the local clock when the time-zone database is current. Manual settings should use a Sudan location or another appropriate fixed UTC+2 configuration that does not introduce an unwanted summer adjustment.
Sunrise differences within Southern Darfur
Nyala provides a convenient default for sunrise, but it cannot represent every locality to the exact minute. Kass, Buram, and Tulus occupy different coordinates, so their daily calculations may vary even while their official clocks show the same hour.
The seasonal position of the sun affects day length. Longitude and latitude determine how that pattern appears at a particular place. For this reason, a useful sunrise answer always includes a date and a nearby city or coordinates.
Identify the closest suitable locality. Choose the intended local day. Read the calculated result in CAT. Review visibility conditions before relying on direct sunlight. Sunrise calculations use an idealized horizon. Actual observation can be affected by higher ground, vegetation, buildings, airborne dust, and weather. Dawn begins before sunrise, which may be more relevant when the goal is simply to travel or work in natural morning light.
