Subcarpathia, Poland
Subcarpathia keeps the same official time as all of Poland: CET in the standard-time season and CEST during daylight-saving time. Rzeszów and other regional cities share one clock, while eastern position and mountain horizons affect sunrise.

Current time in Subcarpathia, Poland
Europe/Warsaw is the applicable time-zone identifier throughout Subcarpathia. Central European Time is UTC+1, and Central European Summer Time is UTC+2. Poland’s national schedule determines when the seasonal offset changes.
No local time boundary separates the foothills, cities or eastern districts of the voivodeship. A traveller arriving from Kraków, Warsaw or elsewhere in Poland keeps the same time. Automatically configured devices should use the national changeover without a regional setting.
Foreign comparisons can be less straightforward because not every country changes clocks in the same way. For cross-border communication, include the local city and date rather than relying only on a fixed statement about the time difference.
Subcarpathian roads may climb and turn, but the local clock takes the same route as every other Polish clock.
Rzeszów and other major cities
Rzeszów is the regional capital and largest city. Other important urban centres include Przemyśl, Stalowa Wola, Mielec, Tarnobrzeg and Krosno. Each observes the same official hour despite differences in position and landscape.
Rzeszów is the usual reference city for the voivodeship. Przemyśl lies farther east, so solar events may occur slightly earlier. Stalowa Wola and Tarnobrzeg are in the northern part of the region. Mielec lies west of Rzeszów but remains on the same civil clock.
Krosno is closer to the southern uplands and mountain landscapes. The cities’ synchronized clocks make regional travel and communication uncomplicated. Sunrise is a separate matter: east-west position shifts solar timing, and a mountainous skyline changes when sunlight becomes directly visible.
Sunrise near the Carpathians
A meaningful sunrise result requires both date and location. Day length changes across the year, and a published value for Rzeszów cannot precisely describe Przemyśl, Krosno or a remote valley in the south.
Astronomical sunrise is calculated for a conventional horizon. In hilly and mountainous country, an observer may wait longer for the Sun to clear a ridge. Conversely, a high, open viewpoint can reveal a broad sky and early twilight.
Select the nearest town or exact coordinates. Check the intended date and local offset. Examine the direction and height of the eastern horizon. Use twilight information if the plan depends on available light.
Consult weather separately for cloud and visibility. Eastern Subcarpathia commonly reaches solar events before western Polish locations at a similar latitude, but it does not run on a different official hour. Geography explains the contrast. The regional clock remains aligned with the national system.
Questions and answers
- Does Przemyśl use a different time because it is in eastern Poland?
- No. It uses the same civil time as Rzeszów and the rest of the country.
- Is Rzeszów a suitable sunrise reference for the whole region?
- It is a general guide, but a nearer locality is better for precise planning.
- Why might the Sun appear after the listed sunrise?
- A mountain, ridge, building or other obstruction may conceal the horizon.
