Pomerania, Poland
Pomerania observes Poland’s common time zone, switching between CET and CEST under national rules. Gdańsk, Gdynia, Słupsk and the region’s other communities share one clock, while coastal position and season shape sunrise and daylight.

Current time in Pomerania, Poland
Europe/Warsaw governs local time in Pomerania. During standard time the region uses Central European Time, or UTC+1. During daylight-saving time it uses Central European Summer Time, or UTC+2. The Baltic coast does not have a maritime or regional time-zone exception. Ferries, trains, offices and residents use the same official time as the rest of Poland. Travelling from an inland Polish region to Pomerania consequently requires no adjustment to the clock.
For a call or booking involving another country, use a date as well as a local hour. The foreign location may follow another seasonal schedule. A time difference that is correct during one part of the year cannot always be assumed for another. The Baltic may move with the tide, but Pomerania’s clocks move with the rest of Poland.
Largest cities from Gdańsk to Słupsk
Gdańsk is the voivodeship capital and its largest city. Together with Gdynia and Sopot, it forms the closely connected Tricity area. Słupsk and Tczew are also significant urban centres within the region.
Gdańsk is the main administrative and time-reference location. Gdynia lies nearby and displays precisely the same civil time. Sopot shares the Tricity clock with both larger neighbours. Słupsk is farther west, where solar events tend to occur later by the clock.
Tczew uses the national time and has its own location-specific sunrise. Because the cities agree on official time, regional schedules remain simple. Their different longitudes still matter near dawn and dusk. A westward journey can preserve the number on the clock while subtly shifting the Sun’s position.
Coastal sunrise and seasonal light
Sunrise over or near the Baltic can provide an open eastern view, but its calculated time still depends on date and coordinates. Pomerania’s northern latitude also creates pronounced differences between long summer days and short winter days.
A Gdańsk sunrise is suitable for Gdańsk and nearby places, but it should not be treated as exact for Słupsk or every point along the coast. Even within the Tricity area, precise values can vary slightly. Use the closest location when timing photography, sailing or an early departure.
Select a coastal or inland locality rather than the voivodeship alone. Check the exact calendar day. Read the result in the correct CET or CEST context. Account for dunes, buildings, cliffs or cloud when direct visibility matters.
Twilight begins before astronomical sunrise and can illuminate the coast earlier than the published sunrise hour. Conversely, clouds can hide the solar disc. A calculated event describes geometry; an observer’s experience also depends on horizon and weather.
Questions and answers
- Do Gdańsk and Gdynia have the same local time?
- Yes. Both follow Poland’s national time zone and clock changes.
- Is Pomerania in a separate Baltic time zone?
- No. Its coast uses Europe/Warsaw like the rest of Poland.
- Why can sunrise differ between Gdańsk and Słupsk?
- Słupsk lies farther west, and sunrise calculations depend on longitude as well as date.
