Current time in Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Philippines
Places associated with the former Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, including Marawi and Lamitan, follow the same national time as Manila. The region has since been replaced by the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, but the clock standard remains Philippine Standard Time.
UTC+8 places local civil time eight hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time. Because the Philippines uses one national time zone, domestic travel between Mindanao, Luzon, and the Visayas does not require resetting a watch. Administrative boundaries may change more often than the hands on the clock.
Regional names, cities, and one national clock
Current administrative information should be checked under the Bangsamoro region rather than relying solely on the older ARMM label. Marawi, Lamitan, and other communities covered by the historical designation all use UTC+8.
Marawi follows Philippine Standard Time. Lamitan uses the same national clock. Island and mainland communities share UTC+8. Manila time is also the correct civil-time reference. Cotabato City is an important administrative centre for the Bangsamoro government. When selecting a location, distinguish the city from Cotabato Province, because similar names can refer to different administrative entities.
Sunrise across mainland and island areas
Sunrise differs by island, city, and date. Locations farther east generally encounter the Sun’s daily path earlier by the clock than locations farther west, although official time remains identical everywhere.
Mountains, coastlines, nearby islands, and urban obstructions affect visible sunrise. A calculated value assumes an ideal horizon and cannot describe the exact moment sunlight clears a ridge or neighbouring building.
Use the modern place name or exact municipality. Confirm the result is expressed in UTC+8. Check dawn as well as sunrise for early journeys. Consider marine weather and the local horizon for visibility.
Seasonal shifts in sunrise and sunset occur, but there is no corresponding seasonal clock change. For travel planning, separate the question “What time is it?” from “When will daylight be useful?”
