Current time in Los Santos Province, Panama
Local time in Los Santos is obtained by subtracting five hours from UTC. The rule applies equally in Las Tablas, inland towns, and communities along either coast of the province. This fixed offset is helpful when planning within Panama: no clock change is required on entering Los Santos from a neighboring province. International planning needs more attention because a caller abroad may move between standard time and daylight time while Los Santos remains unchanged.
Use a location setting for Panama when configuring a device. A generic fixed offset can show the correct hour, but a named regional setting expresses where the clock belongs and is less likely to be confused with another UTC−5 jurisdiction.
The Azuero Peninsula offers plenty of reasons to lose track of time, but changing the time zone is not one of them.
Main cities and towns
Las Tablas is the capital of Los Santos Province and its principal administrative center. The province also contains a network of notable district seats and towns rather than a collection of very large cities.
Las Tablas is the provincial capital and a central reference for local services. La Villa de Los Santos is a prominent town with major historical importance. Guararé lies close to Las Tablas and serves its own district.
Macaracas is an inland district center. Pedasí and Tonosí are important reference points in the province’s south. Every listed place observes the same UTC−5 civil time. A trip from La Villa de Los Santos to Pedasí changes the landscape and distance from the capital, but it does not change the reading on a correctly set watch.
When a database asks for a city, select the nearest listed town. This choice matters little for the legal hour but improves solar calculations because sunrise and sunset are based on geographic coordinates.
Planning around sunrise
There is no single permanent sunrise time for Los Santos Province. The result depends on the day of the year and the position within the province. Eastern coastline, western coastline, and interior hills present different horizons even under an identical clock.
A calculated sunrise represents a defined solar event at an ideal horizon. The first direct sunlight on a particular street, valley, or beach may arrive at a different moment because landforms or structures block the view.
Pick Las Tablas or the community closest to the activity. Enter the correct date rather than relying on a saved result. Confirm that times are displayed in UTC−5. Consult dawn and sunset separately if available light matters.
The tropical setting limits extreme seasonal swings in day length, yet sunrise does not remain stationary. Fishing departures, outdoor work, photography, and road travel are better planned with a dated local calculation than with a general estimate for Panama.
Questions and answers
- Is Los Santos in a separate Azuero time zone?
- No. It uses Panama’s national UTC−5 time.
- Are clocks changed during the year?
- No. Los Santos Province does not observe daylight saving time.
- Can I use Las Tablas for every sunrise calculation?
- It provides a regional reference, but the nearest town or exact coordinates will give a more relevant result.
