Tanintharyi Region uses Myanmar Time, UTC+6:30, without seasonal clock changes. Dawei, Myeik, Kawthaung, the offshore islands, and inland communities all follow the same national time throughout the year.

The region forms Myanmar’s long southern extension. Despite that distance, its clocks agree with Yangon and the rest of the country. The nearby Thai side of the international border uses a different official offset, so border crossings require attention to local time.

Dawei is the administrative centre of the region. Myeik is a prominent port and urban centre farther south. Kawthaung is Myanmar’s southernmost major border town. Tanintharyi is a historic town inland from Myeik.

These settlements are spread over a considerable north-to-south distance, but no internal time boundary separates them. Schedules for boats, buses, flights, and offices should therefore be read in Myanmar Time unless a provider explicitly states another zone.

Coastal sunrise and daily light

Sunrise changes through the year and is not identical in Dawei, Myeik, and Kawthaung. Their differing latitudes and longitudes produce small variations in the timing and length of daylight. An exact daily value should use the intended town or coordinates.

The Andaman Sea lies west of the mainland, so open-sea views are especially associated with sunset. Sunrise appears toward the landward or eastern side from many west-facing coastal locations, although islands, bays, and the direction of a particular shoreline can alter the view.
