Salas is the Latvian form linked to Sala and the former Sala Municipality. The area uses Europe/Riga, with Latvia’s standard time in one part of the year and daylight-saving time in another. The Daugava does not divide timekeeping here: communities on the same Latvian schedule remain synchronized even when roads and administrative boundaries place them in different local units. Sala and nearby Jēkabpils consequently share the same displayed time.

Jēkabpils is the nearby city and present municipal centre, but it should not be mistaken for a settlement inside the former Sala Municipality. Older directory entries may retain Salas novads because they describe boundaries that existed before the latest reorganization.

Searches for “Sala” can also find unrelated places because the word occurs in several geographic names. Adding Latvia, Jēkabpils, or Sēlpils helps identify the intended location.

How daylight changes around Sala
