Jakarta, Indonesia
Jakarta uses Western Indonesia Time, known as WIB, at UTC plus seven hours. It does not observe daylight saving time, so the capital region keeps the same offset all year.

Current time in Jakarta, Indonesia
Jakarta’s clock serves as a common reference for national business, government, and media, but it is not the time everywhere in Indonesia. Bali and Sulawesi are one hour ahead, while Maluku and the Papua region are two hours ahead.
To convert UTC to Jakarta time, add seven hours. The fixed offset makes recurring international appointments easier to calculate, although the other country in a call may change its clocks seasonally.
Jakarta time is often treated as Indonesia time—convenient shorthand, provided nobody on the call is waiting in Ambon.
One clock across Jakarta’s urban districts
The Special Capital Region is divided into administrative cities and a regency, but there is no internal time difference. Central Jakarta, West Jakarta, South Jakarta, East Jakarta, and North Jakarta all follow WIB. The Thousand Islands Regency uses the same zone as the mainland.
Central Jakarta: WIB West, South, East, and North Jakarta: the same local time Thousand Islands: no change from mainland Jakarta Nearby cities in the surrounding metropolitan area also use WIB For local travel, changing districts never requires changing a device clock. Transport schedules, office hours, and bookings use the same civil time across the metropolitan area. The larger practical variable is journey duration, not the time-zone boundary.
When arranging a national meeting, write “Jakarta time” or “WIB” beside the hour. This is especially useful when participants join from Makassar, Denpasar, Ambon, or Papua.
Sunrise in a dense coastal metropolis
Jakarta’s sunrise time varies with the date. Its position near the equator keeps day length comparatively even over the year, yet sunrise is not fixed to one minute or one permanent hour. A published sunrise is an astronomical value based on location and standard assumptions about the horizon. From a street or apartment, buildings, haze, clouds, and the viewing direction can change when the sun itself becomes visible. Dawn begins before the listed sunrise.
Use a current, date-specific value for Jakarta when planning photography, exercise, prayer-related travel, or an early departure. A listing for another city in WIB may differ because sharing a time zone does not mean sharing a longitude or horizon.
