Mariánské Lázně is a prominent spa town in the southern part of the region. All four places keep identical civil time. Their east-west separation can produce a slight difference in solar events, but it is not large enough to create a separate official schedule. Regional transport and business hours are published using the same clock.

Sunrise among valleys and uplands

Sunrise changes continuously through the year. It is earlier during the long days of the warmer season and later during the short days of the colder season. The clock change makes the seasonal pattern look less smooth on a timetable because civil time advances or retreats at once.

The region’s terrain also affects what an observer sees. A calculated sunrise describes the Sun at an ideal horizon, while hills, wooded slopes, and buildings can delay its first visible appearance in a valley or street.

Karlovy Vary, Cheb, and Sokolov may show slightly different sunrise times because they occupy different positions. For ordinary plans the difference is modest, but a location-specific forecast is better for photography or a precisely timed outdoor activity.
