Current time in Beijing, China

Beijing uses China Standard Time, UTC+8, all year. The municipality does not observe seasonal clock changes, and every district follows the same national time. Central Beijing, Chaoyang, Haidian, Fengtai, Tongzhou, and the municipality’s outer districts all share one clock. Moving between the urban core and mountain districts requires no time adjustment.

Beijing time is also the official civil time used across China, making the capital a natural reference for national schedules, broadcasts, rail services, and business hours. Beijing has many ring roads but, mercifully, only one official time.

UTC+8 throughout the year

China Standard Time is eight hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time. Beijing does not move its clocks forward or backward for daylight saving, so its UTC offset remains stable across seasons. International differences can nevertheless change. If London, New York, Sydney, or another location adjusts its clocks, the gap between that place and Beijing changes even though Beijing itself has done nothing.

Select Beijing or China Standard Time in a world clock. Include the date when arranging a call across midnight. Let calendar software apply the other city’s seasonal rules. Read Chinese train and flight schedules in local UTC+8 time.

Districts and Beijing sunrise

Beijing is a municipality rather than a province, combining a dense central city with suburban plains and mountainous outer districts. Chaoyang and Haidian are major urban districts, while Tongzhou contains the municipal administrative centre. All use the same official hour.

Sunrise varies daily because of the changing position of Earth relative to the Sun. Beijing has longer daylight in summer and shorter daylight in winter. With no seasonal clock change, sunrise and sunset progress on a continuous fixed-offset clock.

Even within the municipality, the first visible sunlight can differ. Eastern districts have a small positional advantage for astronomical sunrise, while western mountains and local terrain may obscure the solar disc. High buildings similarly alter the horizon from street level.

A sunrise table normally gives the astronomical event for selected coordinates. It does not account for every tower, ridge, cloud bank, or courtyard wall. Choose a district-level location when timing a photograph, morning walk, or outdoor ceremony.
