Sunrise changes by date and location. Yellowknife and Inuvik cannot be treated as interchangeable for daylight planning: Inuvik lies much farther north and experiences more extreme seasonal variation.

During northern summer, evenings remain bright for a long time, and places above the Arctic Circle can experience periods when the sun does not set. In winter, the reverse pattern brings very short days or periods without a sunrise in the far north.
