Pará, Brazil
Most of Pará, including Belém, uses Brasília Time at UTC−3. A western portion of the state uses Amazon Time at UTC−4, so the municipality must be known before choosing the local hour.

Current time in Pará, Brazil
There is no single reliable current-time answer for every place in Pará. Belém, Ananindeua, Santarém, and much of the state follow UTC−3. Municipalities in the far west may be one hour behind, on UTC−4.
For a precise conversion, begin with the city rather than the state name. This avoids showing Belém time to a person whose destination lies in Pará’s western time-zone area. Brazil does not currently apply a seasonal clock change in these zones. Pará is a useful reminder that state borders and clock borders do not always agree.
City location matters
Pará extends a great distance from the Atlantic-facing northeast toward the interior of the Amazon region. Its width is the reason local-time questions need more geographic detail than they do in many Brazilian states.
Belém, the capital, uses UTC−3. Ananindeua, beside the capital, follows the same time. Santarém, on the lower Amazon, also uses UTC−3. Marabá and Parauapebas in southeastern Pará use UTC−3. Far-western destinations should be checked individually because UTC−4 applies in part of the state.
A journey within Pará can therefore include a time-zone boundary. Airline, bus, and event schedules normally use the local time at the relevant place, so departure and arrival displays deserve careful reading.
Sunrise from the coast to the west
Pará lies relatively close to the Equator, which keeps day length less seasonally variable than in southern Brazil. Sunrise still changes by date, and the state’s large east-to-west extent creates meaningful differences between municipalities.
Belém encounters the daily solar cycle earlier than far-western Pará in absolute terms. The one-hour civil-time difference in part of the state complicates comparisons: two sunrise labels cannot be interpreted correctly until their respective time zones are known.
Select the municipality and verify its position within Pará. Identify whether the local zone is UTC−3 or UTC−4. Use the local calendar date shown at the destination. Check twilight separately when planning river travel or outdoor activity before dawn.
Weather belongs to a different calculation. Heavy cloud can conceal the Sun even when astronomical sunrise has occurred, and vegetation or buildings can obstruct the horizon. A sunrise table supplies timing, not a guarantee of visible sunshine.
Questions and answers
- What time zone does Belém use?
- Belém uses Brasília Time, UTC−3.
- Is all of Pará in the same time zone?
- No. Most of the state uses UTC−3, while a western portion uses UTC−4.
- Can one sunrise time represent the whole state?
- No. Pará’s size, two civil-time offsets, and differing locations require a city-specific result.
