The time displayed here is the civil time for the whole region historically known in English as Chittagong and officially called Chattogram Division. The spelling changes no clock setting: every part of the division follows the national time of Bangladesh.

UTC+6 means that local clocks are six hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time. Convert from UTC by adding six hours. If the addition passes midnight, advance the date as well. For conversion to UTC, subtract six hours and adjust the date when necessary. Chittagong has hills, coast, and busy roads, but mercifully no internal time-zone border.

Urban centers and eastern sunrise

Chattogram is the division’s largest and most prominent city. Cumilla is another major urban center, while Cox’s Bazar is a widely known coastal city. Feni, Noakhali, Brahmanbaria, Rangamati, Bandarban, and Khagrachhari are useful regional reference points. All keep UTC+6.

Because the division lies in eastern Bangladesh, sunrise by the clock generally occurs earlier here than in the country’s far west on the same date. An exact time still depends on the selected locality. Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, and an inland hill location should not be assumed to have an identical sunrise.

Season affects both sunrise and the length of daylight. Elevation and an obstructed horizon may change when a person first sees direct sunlight, but they do not change the official astronomical calculation. Weather can hide sunrise without moving it to another time.

Pick the nearest city or use precise coordinates. Check that the requested date is local to Bangladesh. Use the sunrise field for the horizon crossing. Use dawn only when twilight is the relevant condition.
