How it works

Staples is a chain of office-supply stores with print and related services, but the door times are local. One city store may open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 9:00 p.m. Another may open at 9:00 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m. A mall store may follow the mall. Sunday is often shorter than Saturday. None of those examples is a promise for your address.

The working method is small: Open the Staples store locator or the page for that street address. Read the hours for the day you will visit, not only “today” if you are going tomorrow. If you need print, copy, or another desk service, check whether that desk lists a shorter window than the sales floor.

If the trip is for a deadline, add a margin before close. A file that fails to print at 10 minutes to close is not the store’s extra hour. Same-day pickup and delivery, where offered, still live inside the store’s clock. An order placed after closing does not reopen the floor. Overnight website browsing is not the same as Staples hours for walking in.

Late print jobs versus sleep

Print deadlines create a bad bargain with bedtime. The file is “almost ready” at 9:00 p.m.; the store, if it closes at 8:00, has already been dark for an hour. Staying up to polish a document you cannot print until morning costs sleep and does not buy a later door. Finish the file, sleep, and use the next opening.

If you know the job is large, treat the last full hour of Staples hours as already too late. Paper jams, review copies, and a second file live in that hour. People who arrive at opening with a finished file sleep better than people who arrive at closing with a draft.

Sunday hours, when they exist, often start late morning. Sleeping in on Sunday and then discovering an 11:00 a.m. opening can still work. Sleeping in on Sunday and needing a 9:00 a.m. print job does not. Read Sunday separately from Friday. They are not the same Staples hours. The copier does not owe you a night shift because you postponed the file.

Weekends, malls, and a slower morning

Weekend openings are frequently later than weekday openings. If you keep a weekday alarm of 6:30 a.m., Saturday Staples hours may not match it. There is no prize for arriving two hours before the door. Use the extra morning for sleep, then go when the listing says open.

Mall locations can open with the mall and close with the mall. A standalone store a mile away can run a different clock the same day. “Staples hours” in a search result that does not name a street are a blend of other people’s stores. They are not your store.

Holiday weeks break the weekday pattern more often than ordinary Tuesdays do. A closed Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day is common for many US retailers; whether this Staples follows that pattern is a listing question, not a guess from last year. Look up the week you are in.

If you only need an item that the website can ship, you can protect sleep by not driving after close. If you need a service that exists only at the counter, you cannot. Sort that difference before evening, while you still have a chance to go during listed hours.
