How it works

Somerset Collection is a luxury mall on West Big Beaver Road in Troy. Management publishes one concourse clock: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, noon to 6:00 p.m. Sunday. That is when the common areas are run as a shopping center. A restaurant can seat after the last specialty store. An anchor can keep its own evening. The mall line is the default for a boutique that did not print a separate card.

Work sits on both sides of that 8:00 p.m. close. If you leave a Detroit-area desk at 5:00 p.m., you still have a weekday evening inside the building. If you leave at 6:30 p.m. and still need a fitting, you have little slack. If you work until 8:00 p.m., the concourse is not an after-work mall for you. Sunday’s noon open and 6:00 p.m. close is a short day: useful after a slow morning, useless as a late errand.

Valet is offered at the north main entrance. Concierge desks and security have their own phones. Those services do not extend a locked store. Pickup counters follow the merchant, not the fountain.

After the office, before 8 p.m.

Plan the list against commute plus parking, not against the printed 8. A 7:40 p.m. arrival on a Tuesday is a last-hour walk, not a browsing hour. Move a long luxury list to Saturday, which uses the same 10-to-8 span without a workday in front of it. Keep Sunday for a short visit that respects noon and 6:00 p.m. Do not copy a lifestyle center’s 9:00 p.m. Friday onto Somerset’s weekday 8:00 p.m.

People who work retail inside the Collection are on the other clock: they are staffed for your evening. Do not ask a specialist to start a long appointment at 7:50 p.m. Book it earlier in the day or on Saturday. The mall’s posted close is also their way home.

Monday–Saturday concourse: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday concourse: noon to 6:00 p.m. Dining and some anchors: confirm the tenant; they can disagree with the mall. Worknight shop: leave the office with enough commute to arrive well before 8:00 p.m.

Somerset’s weekday evening ends at 8:00 p.m. A 5:00 p.m. quitting time still fits. A 7:50 p.m. “quick look” is how you meet a locked boutique in good lighting.

Sunday, holidays, and tenant exceptions

Sunday is not Saturday copied down. Noon is late enough that a church morning or a sleep-in still works, and 6:00 p.m. is early enough that dinner plans should not start with “one more store.” If Sunday is your only free block after a six-day job, you still have six hours of concourse — if you do not spend two of them in the car.

Holiday weeks are posted separately. Do not guess Easter, Thanksgiving, or Christmas from another mall’s list. Individual stores may close while a restaurant stays open. If the errand is a gift wrap or a jewelry appointment, treat that merchant’s hours as the only hours that matter. The glass roof being lit is not a promise that every tenant is still selling.
