How to change work hours in Teams is a calendar edit, not a Teams-only clock. Microsoft 365 stores work hours on the calendar as start and end times plus working days, usually under a heading named Work hours and location. Outlook on the web exposes that panel from Settings, then Calendar. The Teams calendar exposes the same panel from calendar settings. Save once. Both surfaces read the same record after they refresh.

In Teams, open Calendar, open calendar settings, then Work hours and location. Check the days you work. For each day, set a start stamp and an end stamp in the time zone shown at the top of that panel. Some tenants allow a second range on the same day for a split shift. Formats for a work day

Subtracting 09:00 from 17:00 gives eight hours, which you may write 8 h or PT8H. Do not type 8:00 as the work hours; that would look like a start stamp of eight o’clock.

Split days need two pairs: 08:00–12:00 and 16:00–20:00 are four stamps, two spans. Adding the two durations gives the paid length only if that is how the workplace counts. The calendar still publishes the pairs, not the sum, unless someone also wrote the sum in a note. Overnight work that starts 22:00 and ends 06:00 crosses a date. That pair is still two stamps. The duration is eight hours on an ordinary night, and a different civil length if a DST fold sits between them.

Change the hours in the calendar Teams reads. Quiet hours hush the phone. They do not shorten the workday on anyone else’s booking grid.

A 2026 label is not a new hour

Putting 2026 on an hour change names the year of the calendar, not a new SI hour. The hour stays 60 minutes in 2026 the same as in any other year this page can speak to. What can change is the civil label: a daylight-saving jump, a zone offset, or a roster that moves 09:00 to 08:00. Those are stamp changes. They are not a 50-minute hour. Write the new stamps. Do not invent a new conversion factor.

If the task is “update my 2026 work hours,” open the same Work hours and location panel and type the new start and end. If the task is “the clocks jump this year,” keep work hours as civil stamps in the stated zone and let the zone’s rules move the instant.
