Crunch hours
Crunch hours are posted per club. Some gyms stay open all night on weekdays or around the clock; others open early and close late. Your club’s listing is the schedule, not a neighbor’s.
How it works
Crunch Fitness is a chain of clubs, not one building with one lock. A club can be 24 hours. A club can be 24/5: open through the night Monday to Friday and on a shorter weekend. A club can open near dawn and close near late evening, with weekend hours that start later and end earlier. Classes, kids’ rooms, tanning, and hydro massage can stop before the weight floor does. The door time and the amenity time are not always the same clock.
Sleep is the other half of the membership. A 5 a.m. open is useful if you wake then. It is a trap if you only get there by cutting the night short five days a week. A 24-hour weekday floor lets a night-shift worker train after work without pretending it is morning. It does not make 1 a.m. a magic hypertrophy hour. Heavy lifting on no sleep is still heavy lifting on no sleep. The club being open is permission to enter, not a medical clearance.
Holidays and maintenance can rewrite a 24-hour claim for a night. Staffed hours and key-fob hours can also differ at some sites. If the app says open and the door does not, the door wins. If you travel, do not assume the club in another city matches the one at home. Check that address.
Training time versus bedtime
People use Crunch hours to squeeze a session around a job. That only works if the session still leaves a sleep window. A 10 p.m. class that ends at 11 p.m. plus a shower plus a commute can push sleep past the hour you needed for the next alarm. A lunch session does not. An overnight session after a night shift can be the one that fits, if that club is actually 24/5 or 24/7 and you still get a block of sleep before the next clock-in.
Weekend hours are the usual surprise. A club that never closes on Thursday can lock Saturday evening. If Saturday is your only free morning, confirm the weekend open, not the weekday boast. If Sunday is your long sleep, you do not need the gym to be open at 6 a.m.; you need it to still be open when you actually arrive.
Read that club’s hours, including weekend lines. Read class end times separately from door times. Treat 24/5 as “not 24/7.” Saturday night can be closed. Protect a sleep block; an open gym is not a substitute for one.
A 24-hour club will let you squat at 2 a.m. It will not clock those hours as rest, no matter how good the playlist is.
How to check without guessing
Use the club page or the Crunch app for the address you will visit. Call if the trip is a one-off at an odd hour. Front-desk hours can be shorter than member access. If you need a towel, a day pass, or a guest, you may need staff, not only a fob. First visits are a daytime job at many clubs even when members can enter overnight later.
If your sleep is already short, pick the session that sits inside the day you already have. Moving a workout from 5 a.m. to lunch can add the hour of sleep the alarm was stealing. The club hours make that possible only if the club is open at lunch. Many are. That is a better use of “flexible hours” than collecting 1 a.m. personal records.
Questions and answers
- Is Crunch open 24 hours?
- Some clubs are. Some are 24 hours on weekdays only. Some are not. Read the listing for that gym.
- Are weekend hours the same as weekday hours?
- Often not. Weekends can start later and end earlier even at clubs that stay open all night during the week.
- Do classes run whenever the gym is open?
- No. Classes follow a timetable. The floor can still be open after the last class.

100 seconds
100 seconds equals one minute forty seconds, or 100 s, or PT1M40S. It is a short duration. It is not 1:00, and it is not a hundred on a digital clock.
120 minutes in hour
120 minutes is 2 hours, because one hour holds 60 minutes. Write it as 2:00 or as two hours; it is not 120 hours.
13 hour cast
A 13 hour cast writes thirteen hours as a label in front of the word cast. Most people who type it want the actors in the film 13 Hours. The number is a duration, not a clock time.
