Aquarium hours

Aquarium hours are that building’s posted open, last entry, and close. Many sites open in the morning, stop new tickets before closing, and are not a late-night venue.

Time By Online Alarm Clock

How it works

An aquarium is a ticketed building with animals on a staffed clock. There is no national pair of times. What repeats is a shape. Doors often open between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. Last admission is commonly about an hour before close. Closing in the late afternoon or early evening is typical on ordinary days. Weekends can start earlier than weekdays. Summer and school holidays can stretch the evening. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and similar dates may close the building or cut it short. Night events, where they exist, are a separate ticket, not the regular board copied later.

Sleep decides which edge you use. A 9:00 a.m. open rewards a night that actually ended. Families with small children often do better at the first hour: cooler rooms, shorter lines, a nap still possible after lunch. An 11:00 a.m. open is a late-morning clock; a 6 a.m. alarm for that door is a theft. A close at 5:00 or 6:00 p.m. is not a place to “drop in after dinner” unless that aquarium actually posts an evening, and even then last entry may already have passed.

Shows, touch pools, and 4-D rooms run on inner schedules. The building being open at 4:30 p.m. does not mean the last feeding is still ahead of you. Read the day’s timetable, not only the door pair.

Last admission is not last light

The line people miss is last entry. If doors close at 6:00 p.m. and last admission is 5:00 p.m., a 5:20 arrival is a wasted trip. You need time inside after you pay. A walk-through is often a couple of hours if you stop. Arriving in the last legal minute is how a child sees three tanks and a gift shop.

Members sometimes have a different entry window. Timed tickets can sell out a morning while the building is still listed as open. Buy for the hour you can actually keep after a real night of sleep, not for the first slot on the calendar if that slot requires a 5 a.m. wake in another city.

Open: often 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.; confirm that aquarium and that day. Last admission: commonly before close; that is the time that matters for arrival. Close: late afternoon or early evening on many ordinary days; nights are special events.

Sleep: pick a morning after a full night, not both a dawn drive and a closing-time rush. The fish will still be swimming after breakfast. A toddler who skipped a nap will not enjoy the tunnel more.

A morning visit after a full night

If you are traveling, count the hotel night as part of the ticket. A late dinner plus a 9:00 a.m. entry is a short night. Shift the ticket later if the aquarium sells later slots. If you have a stroller nap, use the quiet first hour, then leave while the child can still sleep in the afternoon. Staying until close with a tired kid is how the last exhibit becomes a meltdown in a dark hallway.

Holiday weeks rewrite hours. Some aquariums close on Christmas and Thanksgiving. Some open late on New Year’s Day. Marathon days and local events can go dark without looking like a national holiday. Refresh the hours page the morning you go. Then go home when the child is done, even if the building still has an hour on the board. Aquarium hours describe when the tanks are lit for visitors. They do not describe how much rest the people in the stroller still need.

Questions and answers

What time do aquariums open?
It depends on the site. Many open in the morning, often between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m., with weekends sometimes earlier than weekdays. Use that building’s page.
Can I arrive at closing time?
Usually not in any useful way. Last admission is often an hour before close. Arrive with time to walk, not at the lock.
Are aquariums open at night?
Regular hours are typically daytime. After-hours events, where they exist, are a separate ticket and a separate board.

100 seconds

100 seconds equals one minute forty seconds, or 100 s, or PT1M40S. It is a short duration. It is not 1:00, and it is not a hundred on a digital clock.

Hours and minutes

13 hour cast

A 13 hour cast writes thirteen hours as a label in front of the word cast. Most people who type it want the actors in the film 13 Hours. The number is a duration, not a clock time.
