Jordan keeps a single time year-round at UTC+3, with no seasonal clock change. Amman, the capital, shares that time with Aqaba, Irbid, Zarqa and everywhere else in the kingdom.

One offset, no exceptions

Jordan lies in Western Asia and uses one national time zone, listed as Asia/Amman in the time zone database. The offset is three hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time, held constant through every month.

The country is not large from east to west, so a single zone fits it comfortably. From the Jordan Valley to the eastern desert, the clock reads the same, and no internal boundary complicates travel or scheduling.

Clock changes ended

Jordan used to move its clocks seasonally, and older references and travel guides may still describe a summer and winter time. That practice is no longer in force: the country now stays on UTC+3 permanently.

There is no spring forward and no autumn fall-back. The permanent offset corresponds to what was previously the summer time. Any schedule or software that still expects a Jordanian clock change is working from outdated rules and will be an hour off for part of the year.

The fix is to update the time zone data rather than to hard-code an offset. A country can stop changing its clocks in an afternoon; getting every calendar app in the world to agree takes rather longer.

Governorates and the working week

Jordan is divided into twelve governorates, among them Amman, Irbid, Balqa, Karak and Ma'an. These are administrative divisions only — none has a separate time. A meeting time given for Amman is valid for Petra and for the Dead Sea shore alike.

More consequential than geography is the shape of the week. The Jordanian working week and its weekend do not line up with the Monday-to-Friday pattern used in much of Europe and the Americas, which means that even a modest time offset can hide a whole missing day. When arranging deadlines, check the calendar as carefully as the clock.

Comparing Jordan with its neighbours

Several countries in the region also sit at UTC+3, so cross-border scheduling within the area is often a matter of no offset at all. Against Central Europe, Jordan is two hours ahead in the European summer and one hour further ahead in winter, because Europe changes its clocks and Jordan does not.

Against the United Kingdom, the same reasoning applies with the gap measured from GMT or British Summer Time. Because the difference to Europe is not constant, a recurring call should be anchored to a named zone — Asia/Amman — rather than to a fixed hour gap.
