What time is it in Suining
Suining is a prefecture-level city in Sichuan, China, in the Sichuan Basin on the Fu River. It does not keep a basin hour, a river hour, or a western-province stamp of its own. Official clocks follow China Standard Time, eight hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time, the same numerals Chengdu, Chongqing, and Beijing already print. A clock here and a clock in Chengdu should show the same hour. They will not show the same sky.
Library files usually store mainland civil time as Asia/Shanghai. The handle is not a seat on the Huangpu. Choosing Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu, or “China” on a form is choosing UTC+8, not relocating the appointment to the coast. Leave any summer-time toggle off. The mainland does not add a summer hour under present rules.
The live figure on this page is that civil clock, not a factory-shift nickname and not a “western China” unofficial hour. Some people in the far west of the country talk about a later solar day in daily speech. Speech is not the law. Print UTC+8 on the invitation. If the outing depends on actual daylight in this basin, read Suining’s sunrise here.
Inland Sichuan on a coastal-named stamp
UTC+8 is built on the 120°E meridian. Suining sits well west of that line, so the sun’s highest point arrives well after 12:00 on the wall. The delay is longitude, not a forgotten jump and not a slow municipal clock. Midday on a diary is still a civil habit. Do not slide a meeting toward the disk and call the result “Suining time.”
Sichuan as a whole does not get its own offset. A trip to Chengdu, Nanchong, or toward Chongqing does not require a watch change. It changes the basin air, the hills, and how soon fog lifts. School bells, rail notices, and office diaries are still printed on China Standard Time. If a phone offers a South-East Asian offset after a flight through Kunming or toward Vietnam, check that it still reads UTC+8 before you accept a new name.
Civil zone: China Standard Time, UTC+8, nationwide on the mainland. Computer name: Asia/Shanghai — a library label, not a coastal appointment. Daylight saving: not used under present mainland rules. Sun and weather: Suining’s coordinates, not a Chengdu pin and not a basin average.
A call toward Shanghai needs no arithmetic for the hour. A call toward Hanoi does: Indochina Time is UTC+7. A call toward Dhaka does as well. People who treat “inland Asia” as one clock find those gaps on the first morning. Write “09:00 Suining (UTC+8)” on mixed invites. CST still collides with North American Central.
If the sun peaks well after lunch, the basin is west of the meridian. The clock is not slow.
Basin light and a late solar noon
Sunrise and sunset on this page update with the date. They are calculated for Suining. Basin fog, low cloud, and humid air can hide the disk long after geometry says it is up. Calculated sunrise assumes a standard horizon; a river terrace or a hill is not that horizon. Hold the table for the minute. Hold the forecast for whether fog will hide it.
The length of day still follows the sun, not a Sichuan law. Cooler months cut the afternoon; warmer months stretch the evening. Filing a January dawn under a July outing is how people miss the light they wanted, even though Sichuan never jumped. Do not hang a late winter sunrise only on the western longitude, and do not hang a short December afternoon only on fog. Open this page’s pair for the date you actually mean.
The basin year is humid subtropical: hot, sticky summers, a cooler winter by local standards, and a cloudy stretch that can brown a noon without moving the printed minute. Heat is weather. It is not an offset. A 14:00 meeting is still 14:00 on UTC+8 whether the street is a furnace or the fog has not lifted. Offices still ring on the civil hour. Outdoor plans should follow heat, light, and the forecast together. The weather line is the present reading for Suining. It is not a Chengdu copy and not a slogan for the whole province.
Partners in Europe or North America may still jump twice a year. Suining will not. A standing call at 10:00 here stays at 10:00 here. If the same slot slides on their calendar, inspect that side. Keep the event tagged as Asia/Shanghai so only their display moves. Name the city. “China time” is accurate for the hour and still the wrong sunrise if you needed this river rather than the coast.
