What time is it in Neijiang

Neijiang is a prefecture-level city in Sichuan, on the Tuo River, on the corridor that links Chengdu with Chongqing. It does not keep a midpoint hour or a river-town extra. Official clocks follow the same national offset as both of those larger neighbours and as Beijing: UTC+8, with no seasonal jump. A clock here and a clock in Chengdu display the same numbers at the same instant. The river bend is not the same. The stamp is.

The usual computer identifier is Asia/Shanghai. That name does not send a Neijiang meeting to the coast. If a form offers Shanghai, Beijing, or “China,” that is the setting you want. Older advice about Chinese daylight saving describes a past experiment, not present civil time. Do not arm a daylight-saving option.

Like the rest of the basin, Neijiang sits well west of the 120°E meridian that the national hour is built on. The wall says 12:00 long before the sun is due south. That lag is the price of one legal hour across a wide country. It is still the legal hour. Do not invent a “corridor time” halfway between Chengdu and Chongqing.

The Tuo corridor, not a second zone

People pass through Neijiang because the rail and the road between Chengdu and Chongqing do. Passing through is not a reason to borrow either city’s sunrise. Sharing UTC+8 is not sharing a river kilometre. For a dawn start on this stretch of the Tuo, use Neijiang’s own numbers on this page.

Set devices to China Standard Time or Asia/Shanghai, UTC+8. Do not enable daylight saving. Sichuan does not use it. Do not steal Chengdu’s or Chongqing’s sun table because the train stops in all three.

Write “Neijiang (UTC+8)” on mixed invites so the midpoint city is named, not guessed. A drive up or down the Tuo does not require a watch change. Fog in the basin can slow that drive without slowing the legal minute. If a phone offers a foreign offset after roaming, set it back before the next local appointment.

Chengdu and Chongqing share this hour. They do not share this bend of the Tuo. Copy the offset, not the dawn.

Basin weather on an unmoving stamp

Sunrise and sunset here follow the date and Neijiang’s location. Basin cloud, winter fog, and summer haze can hide the disk after the listed sunrise. The sun table still reports the geometric event. The weather line reports what you can see. Do not replace the calculated dawn with “the river was still grey.” Both can be true. One is astronomy. The other is visibility.

Day length still changes through the year. The swing is milder than in northern China and still large enough that a copied winter dawn will betray a summer plan. Use the date on this page. Do not reuse last month’s memory because “Sichuan days feel the same.”

Humidity and heat in the corridor are ordinary in high summer. They still do not justify inventing inland time. Rain can stall a road and leave UTC+8 untouched. If a morning meeting is tight, leave earlier because the road is slow, not because the offset slipped.

A weekly call at 19:00 in Neijiang stays at 19:00 in Neijiang. Someone on the other side of Eurasia or the Atlantic may still jump. When they do, the gap changes by an hour even though the Tuo did nothing. Store the event as Asia/Shanghai. Appointments belong to the wall, light to the sun table, clothing to the weather. Leave them as three readings.
