What time is it in Fortaleza

Fortaleza is the capital of Ceará, on the Atlantic coast of northeastern Brazil. Official clocks follow Brasília Time, three hours behind UTC. Fortaleza does not spring forward. A clock here in January and one here in July keep the same relationship to Coordinated Universal Time.

Brazil is not a single hour. The national map includes UTC−5 and UTC−4 in parts of the north and west, UTC−3 on much of the coast including Brasília and Fortaleza, and UTC−2 on Fernando de Noronha. “Brazil time” without a city is a guess. Fortaleza is UTC−3. Manaus is not. Recife, on this same northeastern belt, is.
